The Cyberabad Police on Tuesday arrested a Home Guard, attached with Cyberabad Traffic Branch, who was allegedly involved in as many as 36 chain snatching offences.
During the course of investigation into series of Chain snatching offences occurring in various places of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, while verifying the earlier criminals jail release criminals, with the help of members of public, we have received clues that one Hero Honda Karizma bike – Red colour Bearing No.AP-28-BV-9325 was found in suspicious circumstances in the places of offence. Detective Inspector Bhaskar Reddy and his team made sustained efforts and apprehended one suspect Mahender Singh Chowdas (28 years). On being interrogated, he has confessed of 36 offences in Cyberabad Commissionerate area.
On interrogation, he revealed that he is lone offender committing chain snatching offences since quite some time. He is presently working as Home Guard in Cyberabad Commissionerate in Traffic Wing. His MO is to go on the roads opposite side of woman on a bike and snatch the chains and escape. He use to do offences during morning and evening times. He committed offences in Jeedimetla PS -17 cases, Sanathnagar PS – 4 cases, Balanagar PS-1 case, KPHB PS -7 cases, Kukatpally PS -3 cases, Miyapur-2 cases Pet-Basheerabad PS -1 case and Alwal PS -1 case.
Altogether he committed total 36 offences and stolen 1 KG 12 tolas Gold worth about Rs 30 lakhs. He kept some gold ornaments with him and he used to hand over some gold ornaments to his concubine Mary Deena Latha for sale. All stolen property has recovered from their possession.
Under the supervision of Balanagar ACP N Narasimha Reddy, Detective Inspector D Bhasker Reddy, Inspector M Chandrashekar, DSI D.Ramakrishna, HC Nagaeswar, PCs Nagireddy, Narsireddy, Kabeer and Balraju of PS Jeedimetla worked in this case. (INN)
