The Cyberabad Police Commissionerate would be providing bandobust for fair and peaceful conduct of four elections, i.e., Urban Local Bodies, Panchayath Raj Bodies, Gram Panchayats and General Elections -2014 in the next 40 days.
The Urban Local Bodies elections will be held on March 30 in three Nagara Panchayats of Pedda-Amberpet, Ibrahimpatnam and Badangpet falling under the Cyberabad limits. Likewise 15 ZPTCs and 357 MPTCs too fall under Cyberabad limits where polling will be held in two phases on April 6 and 8th. As many as 21 Gram Panchayats in Cyberabad too will go for polls on April 13. Similarly, five Parliament and 10 Assembly constituencies too fall under the Cyberabad Police limits where polling will be held on April 30.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Cyberabad Commissioner CV Anand informed that there are 4372 polling stations and 1604 polling locations and 42,16,406 voters in Cyberabad limits. Of the 4372 polling stations, 500 polling stations in 350 locations are identified as critical (critical/sensitive – 294), (Hyper critical/hyper-sensitive-56 and extremist affected – 32).
Elaborate security, L&O and traffic arrangements have been planned to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of above elections. To meet the above bandobast requirement, it is planned to deploy 8478 civil police and 274 CAPF sections.
Andhra Pradesh is identified by the Election Commission of India as one of the “Expenditure Sensitive States” and therefore as per the guidelines of Election commission of India, 31 Static Surveillance Teams (SST) and 31 Flying Squads @ (03) per Assembly segment have been formed under the charge of Executive Magistrate along with Police personnel to curb and prevent the flow of illegal money, liquor and other materials intended to influence the voters, Anand said.
As many as 12 inter-district border check-posts have also been established at Dabeerpura, Turkapalli, Gagilapur, Ankireddipalli, Kepal, Mal, Kothaguda, Kandukur Jenvada, Chandanagar (old Bombay road), Palamakula and Tolkatta to prevent illegal transportation of liquor, money, Arms and Ammunition, Explosives and bjectionable materials. To have effective and visible policing, vehicle checking and frisking is organized in 178 sectors in Cyberabad limits twice daily.
Anand said that all the above teams would ensure implementations of Model Code of Conduct as per the guidelines of the ECI.
As on March 26, 199 NBWs have been executed, 1463 private licensed weapons got deposited and 1407 persons were bound over for good behavior, 93 cases were booked under A.P.Excise Act and liquor worth about Rs. 5,60,000/- was seized, 42 cases of model code violation were booked against Congress(12), TDP(09), BJP(05), YSRCP(03), TRS (05), CPI(01), CPM (01), BSP (01), Janasena (01), Welfare Party of India (01) and others(03) and Rs. 5,40,29,704/- cash seized during vehicle checkings.
