Cyberabad cops Nab shiva gang, recover Rs 1 Cr Booty

The Cyberabad police have arrested the notorious chain-snatcher Shiva and his associates and recovered from them Rs 4.5 lash liquid cash, 3.5 kg gold ornaments, two cars and a two-wheeler all worth Rs 1 crore.

Disclosing this to mediapersons here on Thursday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said they have detected complicity of Shiva gang in over 700 robbery cases, including 510 cases under Cyberabad police limits. He also disclosed that managers of Muthoot Finance and Sriram City Union Finance have also been arrested for accepting stolen gold ornaments for mortgage.
Anand said on the confession of the notorious chain snatching gangster and his associates — Naga Laxmi, Mandapathi Jagadeesh and Munjeti Rajkumar — led to the recovery of the stolen property. The offenders have admitted their role in over 700 chain snatchings in Cyberabad and Hyderabad. The modus operandi of the accused was moving in every corner of the city and commit chain snatchings. The gang targeted old-age lonely women. Shiva used to get down from the bike and follow lonely walking women and robbed them of their gold chains “pusthelathadus” while asking them about some address in the area. The CP said Shiva, Jagadeesh and Raj Kumar were the most wanted criminals in AP and Telangana States and several Non-Bailable Warrants were pending against them at different courts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.

The commissioner said the accused persons used to mortgage stolen property with pawn brokers, private finance companies like Muthoot finance, Sriram city union finance by creating fake and fabricated identity cards. (NSS)
