New Delhi, August 31: The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) today spelled out its elaborate plan for managing large quantities of waste that would be produced at all the venues during the mega-sporting event.
“Our teams are already in place at the venues doing their job,” OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot said.
According to the proposed plan, the responsibility of cleanliness and waste management would be jointly shared by cleaning vendors hired by the OC and the concerned civic agencies like MCD, NDMC etc.
The OC has as per the ‘venue use agreement’ is responsible for waste management at the venues from August 1 this year and has hired three cleaning vendors at a cost of Rs 21 crore for collecting an estimated 1,63,200 kg of waste per day, according to a release by the committee.
