New Delhi, February 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted raids at the premises of five Commonwealth Games Organising Committee officials in Delhi and registered an FIR against them in connection with the alleged CWG overlays scam.
”Searches are on at the premises of five officials into the CWG case,” CBI spokesperson Vinita Thakur said.
The raids at the premises of A K Saxena, Nikesh Jain, R P Gupta, K U K Reddy and Sujith Lal started at around 0700 hrs.
The CWG overlays scam is estimated to be over Rs 600 crore.
Overlays works included supply of tents, marquees, pre-fabricated units, portable toilets, containers, security fences, furniture and public display LED boards.
The premier investigative agency has also grilled then OC boss Suresh Kalmadi in the case after conducting raids at his premises in January.
Earlier, a top OC official R K Sacheti was questioned by the CBI on Wednesday over his alleged involvement in the financial irregularities in conduct of the last year’s sports event. He was grilled on contracts given to the private vendors and other issues.
The CBI had already arrested five people — Sanjay Mohindroo, T S Darbari, M Jayachandran, Binu Nanu, head of two event management companies and Shekhar Mukund Deorukhkar, personal assistant of Mr Kalmadi– in the case.
Mohindroo, Darbari and Jayachandran have been granted bail.
