Allahabad, July 11: The Queen’s Baton Relay for the October 3-14 Commonwealth Games and the exhibition train “Commonwealth Express” today arrived in the city where it was received by cricketers R P Singh and Mohammed Kaif amid much fanfare.
A ceremonious welcome was accorded to the Baton upon its arrival this evening where leaders of various political parties, local administrative officials and players were present.
Indian cricketers R P Singh and Mohammad Kaif along with prominent local politician Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi” received the Baton at the Phaphamau Bridge across the river Ganga.
The Baton, thereafter, moved in a grand procession with hordes of enthusiastic fans lining up on both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of the Baton.
