Cut salaries of MPs disrupting proceedings in Parliament: Kashi Shankaracharya

Thane: Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Narendranand Saraswati of Kashi Sumeru Pithadhiswar, who has openly welcomed the Narendra Modi government’s demonetisation decision, on Monday expressed serious concern over the disruption of Parliament by “a section of MPs”.

“What stops the government from taking any action on them. Why can’t marshals be used to remove them (those MPs disrupting Parliament) out”, the Kashi Sumeru Pithadhiswar asked.

“Those who disrupt the Parliament should not be paid salary. Allowances of those who disrupt the Parliament should be cut during the period they disrupt the house and do not allow it to function,” the seer said.

The pontiff made these remarks while addressing the devotees at the Siddheshwar temple at Manorama Nagar here where a 45-day-yagna is in progress.
