Custom officials arrested woman

On Tuesday, Customs officials arrested a passenger for allegedly smuggling about 1,069 grams of gold worth Rs 33 lakh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

The customs air intelligence unit based on intelligence inputs, detained the passenger who is identified as Nasreen Begum of Karnataka who arrived by flight TG 2925 from Thailand at 12.30 am.

On being questioned by the officials about the possession of any taxable or prohibited goods, the passenger replied in the negative. After examining the handbag, the officers scrutinized her and found 1,069 grams of gold.
