Indefinite curfew was today imposed in Chatra district’s Pathalgadha area, a day after one person was killed and two others were injured following communal clashes during immersion of Saraswati idol. Curfew has been imposed from this morning as tension continues following yesterday’s communal violence, SP Anup Birtheray said. The SP said that one person was killed yesterday following the clash and that only after a post mortem would it be known whether the victim died in police firing or from a bullet. He said the curfew in Pathalgadha area would continue for some days. The clash broke out during immersion of Saraswati idol last night, and the police had to open fire to disperse the clashing groups, he said. Two police vans had also set on fire by the mob. PTI
