Hyderabad, January 26: The Republic Day was celebrated in different districts across Andhra Pradesh today, with hoisting of national flags and cultural programmes marking the celebrations.
In Kadapa, District Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar hoisted the Tricolour at the Police Parade Grounds. He said Kadapa district is first in the state with regard to construction of Indiramma houses for the poor.
Addressing the gathering after taking guard of honour, Kumar said 2.68 lakh houses were sanctioned in three phases and so far 1.67 lakh houses were constructed.
The government has taken steps to help the drought and flood affected people by providing them adequate financial assistance besides implementing various welfare schemes, he said.
At Machilipatnam, district headquarters, Krishna District Collector Peeyush Kumar hoisted the Tricolour at Police Parade Grounds and spoke on the progress of welfare schemes implemented in the district.
