Telangana Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma conducted Special Task Force (STF) meeting on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
Making a detailed presentation on the Action Taken Report on the decisions of the previous STF meeting, HMR Managing Director NVS Reddy informed the Chief Secretary that the Metro works were in full swing and that 19 properties were demolished in the last two weeks. Significant among them are six properties in Ameerpet junction which cleared the way for Ameerpet interchange station; 5 properties in Nampally area which enabled taking up pillar construction for Nampally Metro station; a big apartment complex “Sriveni Towers” in Madhura Nagar; and six properties in Krishna Nagar. 11 quarters in old Gandhi Hospital were also demolished paving the way for HMR to start construction of ‘Sainik Aramgarh’ in 2 acres of old Gandhi Hospital in exchange of 2 acres given by Defence authorities in Secunderabad for construction of Parade Ground Metro interchange station.
Appreciating the good progress of demolitions and Metro Rail works, the Chief Secretary advised the HMR MD and Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad to jointly inspect and clear more work fronts for the Concessionaire L&RMRHL. He has also advised L&TMRHL to complete the ongoing Metro foundations and pillar works early in different parts of the city and restore the road to enable better traffic movement. CS has also instructed HMWSSB, TSTRANSCO and TSSPDCL to extend full support to L&TMRHL in shifting the utilities in areas where Traffic Police permissions are recently accorded.
