CS reviews HMR works; happy at brisk pace

Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma today held the Special Task Force (STF) meeting on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of works of Hyderabad Metro Rail project. HMR MD NVS Reddy made a detailed presentation on the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the decisions of the previous STF meeting.
The CS reviewed the status of acquisition of 204 properties i.e. 157 private and 47 Government Vested Municipal properties (GVM). NVS Reddy informed the CS that there was good progress on this front as 39 properties were dismantled since the last STF meeting. He also said several long-pending properties, which became major traffic bottlenecks, were demolished and quickened the pace of Metro works at critical stretches like Secunderabad Railway Station area, Yousufguda, Musheerabad and Jubilee Hills.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said another 13 GVM properties will be acquired and dismantled this week and acquisition of all the GVM properties will be completed by May. The Collectors of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts informed that out of the remaining 137 private properties, acquisition process was nearing completion and 45 properties are at cheque disbursement stage.

Appreciating the progress, CS advised the GHMC Commissioner, HMR MD and Collectors of Hyderabad, RR districts to maintain the same tempo and expedite acquisition of the remaining properties. He also asked them to take all precautionary safety measures while dismantling the roadside multi storied structures in a time bound manner with least inconvenience to commuters.

The CS, while reviewing the traffic permissions to L&TMRHL for excavation of foundations in Metro Rail carriageway, directed L&TMRHL to remove the barricading immediately after the foundation works are completed and re-carpet the road. The CS emphasized that maintenance and upkeep of the carriageway in the stretches where the works are completed shall be a prime priority for L&TMRHL.
