CS pats GHMC, HMR officials for Metro Rail works

Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma has complimented the HMR and GHMC officials for successfully acquiring the properties meant for the ongoing Hyderabad Metro Rail project.

The Chief Secretary conducted Special Task Force (STF) meeting on Tuesday and reviewed the progress of Hyderabad Metro Rail project. Explaining the progress from last meeting, HMR MD NVS Reddy informed Dr Sharma that 22 properties were dismantled, leaving a balance of 204 properties (157 private and 47 GVM). He mentioned that removal of the open earthen mound in front of Allauddin building, dismantling of Jabbar building, etc., which were pending for the last 30 years and which were a severe traffic bottleneck is a major achievement.

Appreciating the combined efforts of GHMC and HMR and the Commissioners of Police, Hyderabad and Cyberabad in solving several long standing sensitive issues which were causing major traffic jams through negotiations and persuasion, the CS advised them to continue the joint inspections and coordination meetings and improve the Metro corridor roads for enabling smooth flow of traffic in the core city.

Making a detailed presentation regarding Traffic Police clearances for Metro pillar construction in the road stretches of Panjagutta – Niarankari Bhavan, Greelands junction – Ameerpet junction, and Secunderabad railway station area, etc., Additional CP (Traffic) Jitendar informed the CS that large work fronts are given to L&T and more work fronts will be given if they are ready with engineering designs for the remaining Metro pillars and reduce barricading after completion of the ongoing pillar works in these stretches.
