Telangana Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma said that citizens have to take part in Swachh Telangana – Swachh Hyderabad programme to join hands with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in making the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad clean and green.
Rajiv Sarma, along with GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar and other senior officials of various departments have visited B.S. Makta at Somajiguda and inspected lanes and by lanes of the entire area. During the visit, which lasted for about two hours, the Chief Secretary directed the concerned heads of the departments to shift the electrical poles which are causing much inconvenience to the commuters.
The Chief Secretary also interacted with the local residents and asked them to form a committee to give various proposals for road widening and other civic related issues so that the works could taken up on priority basis. He has also directed the officials to remove encroachments from the open land besides Ayyappa Temple as it is being used for dumping for garbage.
Rajiv Sharma also inspected the nala behind Park Hotel where nearly 113 acres of government land has been encroached upon. He asked the officials to take immediate action in this regard.
The Chief Secretary stated most of the grievances, being received during the programme, were being solved immediately while a few major grievances would be solved on priority basing on the importance on the work. He also announced that the programme would continue even after 20th May.
Somesh Kumar, Commissioner & Special Officer, GHMC said that so far 1000 tonnes of waste has been cleared by the 425 units. He said that on Sunday, around 8,000 metric tonnes of garbage has been cleared. Usually GHMC lifts around 3,600 tonnes of garbage every day and on Monday 10,000 tons of garbage waste is being cleared, he added.
On 16th and 17th of May nearly Rs. 150 crores of worth of works have been sanctioned, he said. (INN)
