Chief Secretary SP Singh today said there was ample scope to improve public transport system in the capital city by tying up with private sector.
The Chief Secretary held a meeting with GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and French delegation on the proposal of setting up Tramway in the city, at the Secretariat here on Wednesday. The French team informed the Chief Secretary that they are ready to handover a smart transport system to TSRTC through Tramcar system. The Tramcar can be built up in low space using efficient technology that reduces pollution and protect natural resources.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Singh said the proposal of tramway facility will be taken up with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao. A project of better transport system is to be prepared covering all historic places in the city known for its 400 years history. Metro Rail works are going on in the city comprising wide roads and there is a need to conduct a feasibility study on pilot basis on the tramway system he said.
