Chief Secretary PK Mohanty will submit a report pertaining to distribution of officials and staff, assets and liabilities to Union Home Ministry on Wednesday.
The Chief Secretary held a high level meeting with principal secretaries of all the main departments and said to have obtained adequate details in this regard, as President Pranab Mukherjee will be giving his assent to Telangana statehood bill. The meeting assumes significance as Mohanty was summoned to the national capital for his report on steps needed to be taken in the wake of bifurcation of the State.
The Centre will take a decision on finalising “Appointed Day” to declare statehood to Telangana followed by the detailed report by the Chief Secretary, it is learnt. Since the stage is set for a new government in place and search for a new Chief Minister is on at Delhi and a decision is coming in a day or two, Mohanty’s report will be crucial. In all probability the Centre may take a final call. (NSS)
