Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Ms Minnie Mathew today appealed to the general public and all the electricity consumers for extending their unstinted support to the Power utilities in successful implementation of Energy Conservation (EC) programmes throughout the state and requested them to participate in the movement of energy conservation as it was the best possible option to reduce the ever increasing demand supply gap.
At present not only our state, the entire nation is facing fuel crisis. Abnormal rise in demand has made the situation more critical. In the last decade itself, both consumer base and power demand have almost doubled.
At a review meeting here with Energy Principal Secretary M Sahoo and CMD/APTRANSCO Hiralal Samariya, the Chief Secretary directed top officials to submit a detailed action plan to achieve the scientifically estimated energy savings of 10,000 to 15,000 MU per annum by involving the public and consumers, an official release here said. The Chief Secretary informed that as a first step, a circular was issued to all the officers and employees of secretariat to conserve energy by switching off unnecessary lights, fans, apart from non usage of Air-Conditioners for the next six months to set an example to other Government offices. She further directed officials to work out the modalities on giving cash awards to the best consumers to encourage the conservation practices. UNI
