New York : Republican Presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has accused Donald Trump and his henchmen for feeding the National Enquirer a story claiming that the conservative Christian politician has had extramarital affairs with five different women.
“This National Enquirer story is garbage. It is complete and utter lies. It is a tabloid smear, and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen,” the New York Post quoted Cruz as saying after campaigning in Wisconsin.
The Enquirer, an American supermarket tabloid, published that Cruz, who portrays himself as a pious Christian, had affairs with a “hot babe,” a “sexy schoolteacher,” a “foxy political consultant,” a “hot lawyer” and a $1,000-a-night hooker.
Although it did not identify them, it published pixelated photos of the women with their eyes obscured.
Meanwhile, the real estate mogul denied that he had any role in the lurid story.
“I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it,” Trump wrote.
The New York billionaire, however, noted that the Enquirer had accurately reported former presidential candidate John Edward’s affair and he hoped they are not right about Lying Ted Cruz.
The ugly war between the two republicans began when anti-Trump political action committee (PAC) released an ad that included near-nude photos of Trump’s wife Melania in a 2000 issue of British GQ.
Trump had then threatened to spill the beans on Cruz’s wife, Heidi, and later released an unflattering photo of her juxtaposed with a picture of Melania, a former model.
He accused Cruz of having a role in the ad, which Cruz denied.(ANI)
