Crude oil futures up on global cues

New Delhi, April 15: Crude oil prices rose Rs 15 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 3,903 per barrel in futures trading today, as traders created fresh positions on the back of firming global trend. Trading sentiment turned better as oil prices extended gains in the Asian trade, boosted by demand and strong company earnings results in the United States, the world”s biggest energy user.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for June contract rose Rs 15 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 3,903 per barrel, with an open interest of 495 lots. The oil for delivery in April contract also gained Rs 6.0 or 0.16 per cent to Rs 3,815 per barrel in 15,823 lots.

Traders said, fresh buying by traders in tandem with a firming global trend mainly led to a rise in crude oil prices at futures market. Meanwhile, New York”s main contract crude for delivery in May rose by 25 cents to USD 86.09 a barrel.
