Crude oil falls on poor global cues

New Delhi, May 05: Crude oil prices lost Rs 34 or 0.91 per cent to Rs 3,702 per barrel in futures trading today, as traders reduced their positions on the back of falling global trend. Trading sentiment turned bearish, as oil prices hovered above USD 82 in the Asian trade after dropping sharply on a stronger dollar, analysts said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude oil for May contract fell Rs 34, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 3,702 per barrel, with an open interest of 15,007 lots. The oil for delivery in June contract also tumbled by Rs 25, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 3,843 per barrel, with a business turnover of 7,249 lots.

Traders said, brisk selling in tandem with a weakening global trend led to a fall in crude oil futures prices. Meanwhile, New York”s main contract crude for June dropped 31 cents to USD 82.43.
