Visakhapatnam: A CRPF jawan was injured on Wednesday in a landmine blast triggered by the Maoists in the interior forest area of Munchangiput Mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency. Munchangiput’s Dhooliputtu area where the incident took place borders Odisha.
Superintendent of Police Dr Koya Praveen said the injured jawan was being treated at a hospital here and was out of danger.
Road-opening parties of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were carrying out a combing operation when the Maoists triggered the blast in a deserted patch, about one km from the Dhooliputtu junction. There was also a brief exchange of fire between CRPF jawans and the rebels after the blast.
