Hyderabad, November 16: Three persons were knocked down by trains while crossing tracks in separate cases today.
In one incident, a person was knocked down by an MMTS train even as he was struggling to climb on to the platform at the Lingampally railway station. According to railway police, the victim, aged around 40 years, was crossing the railway tracks at the Lingampally station eventhough there was a foot over bridge nearby. Though other passengers alerted the victim about an oncoming train, he could not climb the platform leading to his death.
“He could not climb on to the platform due to its height and a MMTS train coming into the station knocked him down,” railway police said. The victim, whose identity is yet to be established, was wearing a yellow shirt and blue shorts, they added.
In another similar incident, a priest died after being hit by an MMTS at Fatehnagar railway station. The victim, Krishna Murthy (25), was a resident of Malkajgiri. He came to his relatives house at Balanagar yesterday to perform a function in their house. On his way back today, he was crossing tracks near Fathenagar when the MMTS knocked him down. Meanwhile, an employee of a private finance company was knocked down by a train at Budwel. The victim, K Raghavendra (25), was an employee in Manapuram finance company at Budwel and was a resident of Santoshnagar. He was crossing the tracks when an unidentified train hit him.
