Muscat, December 22: Visiting Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said held talks here on Sunday with both sides expressing a keen desire to expand bilateral cooperation.
They also reviewed the latest developments at the regional and international levels, an official statement after the discussions said.
The Omani leader was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers Sayyid Fahad bin Mahmoud Al Said and the ministers of diwan of royal court, the royal office, defence affairs, interior, foreign affairs, justice, national economy and commerce and industry.
The Croatian delegation included minister of economy, labour and entrepreneurship, the chief of general staff of the Croatian president’s office, foreign policy adviser and other key officials.
Mesic arrived here on Sunday on a three-day official visit and was received at the Royal Airport by Sultan Qaboos and other dignitaries and officials.
Meanwhile, Sultan Qaboos conferred the Al Nu’man (First Class) Order on Murtadha Rahimi Zarji, Iran’s Ambassador to Oman, in recognition of his efforts in promoting ties between the two countries.
Zarji called on Sultan Qaboos to bid farewell at the end of his tour of duty in the sultanate. He thanked Sultan Qaboos for his support during his tenure, while the Omani ruler praised the ambassador for his efforts in stepping up bilateral cooperation.
