Criminal Case Registered against Cricketer Amit Mishra

Bengaluru police registered a criminal case against the cricketer Amit Mishra after one of his female friend complaints that he has assaulted her in a five star hotel on September 25.

Amit Mishra the 33-year-old is part of India’s ODI squad. The woman stated that she and Mishra were friends for four years and often meet each other. She met Mishra when he was in the city to attend a cricket camp. she entered his hotel room and did not find him around this leads to an argument when he arrived. The heated argument made him angry and he thrashed her with a kettle.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central division) Sandeep Patil said “Some members of the hotel staff witnessed the incident and we have taken their statements. We have enough evidence to take action against Mishra if he fails to appear before the investigating officer.” He also added that the police has given the noticeto Mishra asking him to appear before them within a week for further investigation.

The case has been registered against Mishra under the Indian Penal Code section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty).

An official at the Ashoka Nagar police station said. “The incident took place on September 25 and the woman filed a case on September 27. We have collected the statements of eye witnesses and CCTV footage at the hotel.”

The police have also passed on the information to BCCI about the incident through email.
