Crimes could be abolished if jurists, politicians and police determine

Three important pillars of the society, namely, judiciary, politics and police, if they decide, crimes could be abolished. The only formula to abolish crimes is that the criminals shouldn’t be freed and the innocents shouldn’t be touched. Renowned lawyer of the Supreme Court, Mr. Wasi Ahmed Nomani was delivering a lecture on Friday at Abul Kalam Azad Oriental Research Institute, Public Garden, on “Politics – Shelter of crimes”.

The function was presided over by Mr. B. Srikanth Reddy, retired Inspector General of Police. Mr. Nomani told that the elected representatives, instead of discussing serious issues in the Parliament, use it for fulfilling their personal interests. Politics has gone into the wrong hands because there are no norms for entry into politics. This is the reason that in 2009 elections, 369 parties contested from 8070 constituencies. Out of this, 333 parties could not get elected from any constituency. Explaining the crime, he said that any act which is against the rule of the country is a crime. There are punishments against such crimes. All such acts, which are against someone’s religion, should also be treated as crimes. Interpreting the definition of politics, he said that it is the name of doing any good thing but politics is being used for bad purposes these days. The entry of the persons with criminal records is on the increase. The number of persons having criminal records was 128 in 2004 elections which went upto 150 in 2009 elections. Political parties also encourage persons with criminal records so that irregularities could be perpetuated. The politicians have started encouraging criminals to ensure their entry into politics. These serious crimes include their kidnapping and assassinations. Due to the nexus between the criminals and the politicians, the election proceedings are becoming more difficult. He referred to a report of the National Police Commission. He told that the corruption is increasing due to criminal background of the politicians. He categorically told that if three communities namely, those who wear black coat, those who wear Khadi garments and the Khaki clad police officials take a stern action, crimes could be eradicated from the country. He told that if many advocates work hard and support the deserving righteous persons, the criminals will be discouraged. In the same manner, if the police treat the criminals harshly, crimes won’t flourish. In the present days, first crime, criminal and the area are determined and then they search for the witnesses. He questioned. Aren’t people responsible for the abundance of politicians having criminal record? He said if the people stop sending criminals to the legislative houses and the religious leaders fulfill their religious duties, crimes from politics would vanish.

He told that there is one formula for eradicating crimes, that is don’t leave the culprits and don’t touch the innocents. Mr. K. Pratap Reddy, Senior Advocate also addressed the gathering on this occasion. Mr. Meer Kamaluddin Ali Khan, Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Oriental Research Institute welcomed the speaker, guests and the audience. Mr. Ghuam Yazdani, Senior Advocate, Vice President of the institute was also present.
