New Delhi [India]: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Ahmed Patel on Saturday hit back at Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Giriraj Singh for his remark on the party president Rahul Gandhi’s abroad visit, saying that it is a’profession’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to make needless comments.
Speaking to ANI, Patel also termed Singh’s comment as baseless and said that it is not a crime to visit one’s grandmother.
“Absolutely baseless, is it a crime for someone to visit his own grandmother? There are people here in Congress to handle the party in his absence,” Patel said.
“It has become a profession for him to make unnecessary comments,” he added.
Another Congress leader Kamal Nath also lashed out at Singh for his remark and advised him to take more care about the leaders of his own party.
“Giriraj Singh should talk about the leaders of his own party. He should stay within the limits of his political knowledge,” Nath said.
Earlier in the day, Singh took a dig at Gandhi for leaving the country at a time when the results for Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura assembly elections is to be declared.
Speaking to media, Singh said Rahul knew that the Congress is not going to win, so he went abroad.
He further alleged the Congress chief was not serious about politics and governance and left his party workers at the crucial time.
“Koi neta apne karykartaon ko chhodd ke aise samay mein nahi bhaagta. Non-serious adhyaksh hain Rahul Gandhi. (No leader leaves his party workers during such crucial time. Rahul Gandhi is a non-serious party president.),” the BJP leader said.
Singh’s comment comes a day after Congress president took to Twitter and informed about his visit to his 93-year-old grandmother during the Holi weekend. (ANI)
