Crime rate decreased due to reforms in jails: DG

Hyderabad: Prisons Department DG VK Singh has said that they were conducting counselling to the persons coming to jails after committing crime. He said that they were bringing new reforms in the Jail Department in the state and bringing changes among the prisoners.

He said that the crime rate decreased with the reforms in the jails. “We are providing jobs to transgender in Petro Bunks. We will generate Rs.10,000 crore revenue on our own by the year 2020”, he said and made it clear that their aim was to reduce the crime rate up to 50 percent by 2018-19. He informed that they will set up 100 petrol bunks this year and provide jobs to 3000 persons adding that they will set up 1000 petrol bunks in rural areas. (NSS)
