Mother claims daughter’s money showing her as dead
(Siasat News): A beautician who recently returned from Kuwait filed a case against her mother, accusing her of siphoning the beautician’s life insurance amount by declaring the daughter as dead.
Asifnagar police said P Anitha went to Kuwait in March and returned to the city in April.
“As I was in need of money, I went to Shriram Life Insurance, Mehdipatnam, to raise loan against my life insurance amount of Rs. 50,000. But to my shock I was told that the insurance amount was already claimed by my mother, SP Ramula, who declared me dead and took the amount, as she was the nominee. My mother did so after generating a death certificate in my name in my absence,” Anitha said.
The victim said the mother furnished a false affidavit and a death certificate issued by Gram Panchayat of Rangareddy district, to claim her insurance.
“Based on these documents, the company, believing that I died, released Rs. 1.2 lakh,” Anitha added.
A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
