3.8 kg gold seized at airport, staff involved

(Siasat News): Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 3.8 kgs of gold from a person in the parking lot valued at Rs. 1 crore in international market.

The man was allegedly trying to smuggle the gold. As per the details, the flight from Dubai had landed on Shamshabad airport in which a passenger was carrying 3.8 kgs of gold.

The irony of it was that the ground handling staff extended their co-operation in bringing the haul out of the airport premises. The Menzies employee immediately took the gold from the passenger and trying to hide the same in his bike that was in parking lot.

The DRI officials caught him red-handed. However, the passenger successfully fled the scene. EGI police is interrogating the employee.

This is the second incident of its kind where the airport staff is allegedly involved in gold smuggling.
