Showing honesty to police bore no fruit

Hyderabad, July 28 (Siasat News): In our beloved city of Hyderabad, honesty has no value and even honest people are subject to punishments.

In a bizarre incident, two fruit vendors Shabbir and Raheem of Vijayanagar colony, had to pay the penalty for practicing honesty, which has become a rarity. They had to be there in Humayun Nagar police station for the entire day.

As per the details, both of them are the residents of Mallepally. This morning they reached the police station with gold worth Rs. 11 lakh as they were asked to visit the police station to get their rewards promised by police.

Instead of giving any reward, they were made to sit in the police station till late night and asked them to come next day. Shabbir and Raheem had found the bag in Vijayanagar colony late yesterday after closing their business.

When they checked the bag, they found gold ornaments inside it. They inquired about the bag in neighbouring areas but nobody showed any interest. This is where they decided to show their honesty and reached the police station without realizing that there is some other yardstick to gauge the honesty of the people.

Instead of praising their honesty, they were subjected to various bitter questions.

If this is the reward honest people would get, no one in the future, show honesty. For police, dishonesty is the best policy. What happened to the bag containing gold ornaments is not known.
