Double murder on Lailat-ul-Jayeza
(Siasat News): A pan shop owner murdered his wife and 9-year-old son on Sunday because his wife decorated her hands with mehendi on the occasion of Id-ul-Fitr.
Before killing her, the man had heated argument with his wife saying she wasted money on mehendi. The accused Abdul Khaleel, 30, runs pan shop in Pahadishareef police limits.
The victims were Sajida Begum, 28 and Abdul Rahman, 9. Police said that the man smothered his wife and son to death at their house.
The couple had two sons and two daughters. Rahman was their eldest son. He was partly disabled, as both of his legs were not functioning properly.
The family is facing financial crisis as it had been spending beyond its means on the boy’s treatment.
Pahadishareef inspector K Girish Kumar said Sajida went to her parent’s house and decorated her hands with mehendi in view of Id.
She returned home in the night. Seeing mehendi on her hands, Khaleel entered into an argument with her, accusing her of wasting money on trivial things.
Even as Sajida tried to convince him that her parents provided money for the mehendi, an irritated Khaleel smothered her with a pillow. Further investigations are on.
