Another dowry death
(Siasat News): A woman was killed by her husband and in-laws for not fulfilling their wish of bringing more dowry. This incident occurred at Malkajgiri police limits where one Lilavati, 30, was strangulated to death.
The deceased got married to one Shashi Kiran in October 2015. At the time of the marriage she was given a mango orchid measuring 3 acres of land, Rs. 10 lakh in cash, 10 tolas gold ornaments and other household items as dowry.
However, the greedy in-laws started pressurizing her to bring more dowry. Lilavati had once come back to her parent’s house.
A panchayat meeting was also conducted and Rs. 1 lakh was given to her in-laws and Lilavati went back to her husband’s house.
However, the harassment did not stop here and resulted in her death by strangulation. Police is further investigating.
Sister ends life over brother’s humiliation
(Siasat News): A sister who could not bear the humiliation meted out to her brother took the extreme step of ending her life.
This incident occurred in Hayathnagar police limits. Police sources said that Sujatha, 18, was a student. Her brother Sekhar was working in a private company.
Sekhar had borrowed his friend’s motorbike and using it for quite some time. Moreover, he owed money to many of his colleagues and had snatched the motorbike.
When this news broke to Sekhar’s friend’s family, his father insulted Sekhar and abused her. Sujatha was very upset over her brother’s humiliation and set herself ablaze.
She was taken to the hospital where she died during the treatment. Hayathnagar police is further investigating.
Mentally challenged woman commit suicide
(Siasat News): A mentally challenged woman at Erragadda Mental Hospital committed suicide.
According to S R Nagar police, the deceased Bharathi, 35, was the wife of one Gurva Reddy of Prakasham district. As her mental condition was not sound, she was under treatment at Erragadda Mental Hospital.
Police sources said that she was convicted by the court. Her health and mental condition was not sound. Police is yet to ascertain the motive behind her suicide.
