Cricket fraternity tweets heartfelt b’day wishes to Virat Kohli

New Delhi [India]: Indian Test skipper and swashbuckling batsman Virat Kohli turned 28 today and warm birthday wishes poured in from the cricket fraternity.

Former and current cricketers took to micro blogging website Twitter to wish the flamboyant right-handed batsman.

Posting a picture of him with Kohli, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar wrote, “Happy Birthday @imVkohli! To the most (shararati guy ??) in our team, stay the way you are always!”

“Happy Bday to the King of Modern Day Cricket @imVkohli .A man giving joy to a billion people on such a consistent basis,” former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif tweeted.

India’s new head coach Anil Kumble also wished Kohli for a great year ahead. He said, “Happy birthday @imVkohli. Hope you have a fantastic year ahead. Wish you the best of everything.”

Indian batsman Suresh Raina posted an IPL video featuring him and Kohli, writing “Happy birthday @imVkohli ?? Wishing you happiness and good health throughout the year ?? Cheers ?? from @ImRaina & his fans #HappyBirthdayVirat.”

Among the others who wished the Indian batting mainstay were all-rounder Hardik Pandya, opener Shikhar Dhawan, Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and former South African Test cricketer Jonty Rhodes.

Kohli, who has played 48 Tests and 176 ODIs, took over captaincy in the longest format of the game after Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement in 2014.

Widely regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world, it was under Kohli that India regained the number one spot in the Test rankings following their emphatic victories over New Zealand in the first two matches of the three-match series, which the hosts won by 3-0. (ANI)
