Cricket fraternity congratulates India post Asia Cup triumph

New Delhi: The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side received a flurry of wishes from the cricketing fraternity after they thrashed Bangladesh by eight-wickets to seal the Asia Cup Trophy on Sunday.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur took to Twitter to congratulate the team for their brilliants efforts.

“Heartiest congratulations to Indian Team for winning #AsiaCupT20Final superb effort by @msdhoni & boys. Perfect preparations for #ICCWT20,” Thakur tweeted.

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman also wished team India for their clinical batting performance and insisted that skipper Dhoni gave a perfect finish to the match.

“Master Class Cricket. Congrats Indian Cricket Team for the Historic Win against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup Final,” Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Rajeev Shukla wrote on Twitter.

Former Sri Lanka T20 skipper Russel Arnold congratulated India for their dominating display, adding that they thoroughly deserved the victory.

Meanwhile, Indian Women cricketer Anjum Chopra also applauded the national side and tweeted, “Good start to 2016 winning all the three T20series by @ BCCI. Convincing win again today #AsiaCup #INDvBAN.”

Earlier, opener Shikhar Dhawan produced a scintillating 60-run knock to guide India to their sixth Asia Cup title at the Shere-Bangla Stadium.

India will now head into ICC World T20 where they will take on New Zealand in the opening match at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on March 15. (ANI)
