Kolkata: President Pranab Mukherjee today inaugurated an art exhibition of Bangladeshi painter Shahabuddin Ahmed at a gallery here.
“A creative mind cannot be kept confined to any territory. It belongs to the entire universe,” Mukherjee said at the inauguration programme at the ICCR.
The exhibition titled ‘Shanti’ will continue at Ganges Art Gallery for a month from December 15.
The President praised Ahmed’s works saying that with the strokes of his brush he creates a new world.
Ahmed became emotional at the inaugural program saying that it is a big thing for him that the President of India was inaugurating his exhibition.
The artist, who now stays in Paris, has won a number of awards and was also involved in the liberation struggle of Bangladesh.
During the occasion he also gifted a portrait painting to the President.
