Crash will not affect air show: Patel

Hyderabad, March 03: The crash of an Indian Navy aircraft while performing aerobatics at the Aviation India 2010 air show will not affect the event which will go on as usual, Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said here today.

Terming the incident as an unfortunate one, Patel said they were saddened by the incident that took place at the beginning of the air show.

He said the navy had ordered an inquiry into the incident involving an aircraft of its ‘Sagar Pawan’ aerobatic team in which two pilots were killed.

Commander S K Maurya and Lt Commander Rahul Nair were killed when their aircraft — a Kiran MK-II — went out of control and crashed into a residential building during the air display marking the inauguration of the event.
