Crackdown continues on corruption

Hyderabad, August 29: The crackdown on integrated checkposts in the State continues, with Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducting a surprise check in Medak district Friday.

Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of the integrated checkpost at Zaheerabad in Medak, Khaleel Ahmed, was caught with Rs 14,900 in cash collected from drivers.

Officials also seized over Rs 40,000 in cash, found under the MVI’s table, and records were taken away for further scrutiny, an official release said.

It may be recalled that ACB officials had conducted checks on three integrated checkposts in the State Thursday and seized more than Rs 1 lakh from unauthorised agents engaged by government staff present there.

Meanwhile, Village Revenue Officer of Bollepalli village in Gudur mandal of Warangal district Vanku Doth Bhikaru was caught today by the ACB officials taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 to issue a `pahani’ and hand over a passbook in the name of the complainant’s sister, the release said.

Bhikaru will be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad, says a press release.
