CPI(M) leader slammed BJP says “Focus on jobs and farmers, not in people’s personal habits”

New Delhi: The Centre’s decision to ban sale and purchase of cattle for slaughter at animal markets has drawn flak from various opposition parties as well as the organisations who have claimed that it would hit the export and trade of meat and leather.

Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled Centre the Left party said. The government should focus more on providing employment to youth and ensuring a livelihood for farmers and the poor instead of “meddling” in the personal habits of diverse people.

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury tweeted. “Clear message from states: Kerala, Meghalaya to Mizoram. BJP mustn’t be in the business of meddling with personal habits of a diverse people (sic).”

He added, “Young India is crying for jobs, farmers and labour for livelihood. BJP gives vigilantes a free pass, so cows and beef remain the focus (sic).”
