The ruling CPI(M) in Tripura today formed a human chain covering 323 km to press for their six point charter of demands, which include withdrawal of the Land Acquisition Bill.
The human chain covered almost all parts of the state and altogether around 2,50,000 people including party state secretary Bijan Dhar, CPI(M) Central Committee member Gautam Das, former MP Narayan Kar and state PWD minister Badal Choudhury participated in it, police said.
Dhar said the other demands were additional funding from the Centre for development of rural areas, supply of 35 kg rice to every poor family at the rate of Rs two per kg and declaration of a special economic package for the North Eastern states by the Centre.
