CPI(M) demands release of Shopian protesters

Srinagar, August 10: The CPI(M) in Jammu and Kashmir today appealed to the state government to release the agitators who were detained under Public Safety Act during Shopian protests. Raising the issue during zero hour, the lone CPI(M) member, M Y Tarigami asked the government to examine the cases of detained protesters and demanded their release.

He said the judicial commission set up by the government to probe the rape and murder of two women in Shopian along with the Special Investigation Team have failed to identify the culprits yet. Demanded speedy identification of the culprits “behind the inhuman and gruesome incident”, Tarigami said “It is not an issue on which we will observe silence”.
