New Delhi, Jun 13: The contention that the then Union Carbide CEO Warren Anderson was allowed to leave the country in view of law and order situation was a “shameful” attempt to evade responsibilities, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat today said and demanded an independent probe into the issue.
The Group of Ministers (GoM) created to look into the Bhopal tragedy was “meaningless”, she told reporters here.
To a question on government’s contention that Anderson was allowed to leave so that law and order situation does not deteriorate further, she said “what the government is saying is an attempt to evade its responsibilities, the responsibilities of government of that time and that of main office-bearers of that government. This is shameful.
