Rajapalayam, February 17: Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary A B Bardhan today said the CPI wished to bring a ‘left democratic alternative’ of the Congress and BJP in the country by mobilizing all the democratic forces. Inaugurating the 22nd State Conference of Tamil Nadu unit of CPI here, he said ”we know that the way is hard and difficult, but an organized movement with the people will pave a way for a left democratic alternative in the Country.” Accusing the BJP and Congress of following same economic outlook, he said the BJP followed a policy of tilting towards the USA and present UPA Government led by the Congress was doing the same. Attempts were being made to impose a similar two party system in the country, he said, adding, ”We are able to see that.” All the political formations in Tamil Nadu should beware of the BJP and its communal line. The only way out was to have an alternative to the UPA and the NDA. The alternative should take up peoples’ issues and fight for food, jobs, employment and corruption. Such an alternative was left only with the left, he claimed.
