Telangana State Council of Communist Party of India has urged Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to mount pressure on the Centre with regard to categorization of SCs. It asked the Chief Minister to lead an all-party committee to the Centre to make it consider the issue on fast track.
CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy addressed a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard on Friday. In the letter, Chada stated the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) has been waging a war for the last two decades for justified categorization of SC Reservations. The BJP extended its support from the beginning of the MRPS agitation; but though the same party came to power at the Centre two years ago, it failed react on the issue. The Legislative Assemblies during Chandrababu Naidu and Y S Rajasekhar Reddy regimes passed resolutions on Categorisation of SC Reservations. But the Supreme Court obstructed the Categorisation of SC Reservations by the Chandrababu Naidu government. Keeping Supreme Court’s intervention, the Centre has to make an amendment to the law to implement the Categorisation of SC Reservations without any obstruction, Chada demanded.
The State CPI secretary said due to the prolonged delay, the Madiga caste and sub-castes were experiencing injustice. There was a need to do justice immediately to the Madiga caste, which faced suppression since caste system was evolved. He asked the Chief Minister to mount pressure on the Centre to see that the Madiga community people not to lose one more academic year. (NSS)
