CPI urges CM to order CBI probe into killing of forest officials

Stating that the killing of two Forest officials near Tirupati by red sanders smugglers was not a sudden and new incident, State CPI secretary Dr K. Narayana urged Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to take an initiative and cause a CBI inquiry into diabolic activities of the red sanders smugglers.
Speaking to the media after passing a resolution at State CPI extensive executive meeting held at Giriprasad Bhavan in Bandlaguda, Dr Narayana said dare devil red sanders smugglers attacked the Forest officials near Tirupati the other day killing two on the spot and wounding some others critically. “This is not a sudden and sole incident. Red sanders smugglers have been fatally attacking the Forest rangers from time to time since decades. But the officials concerned, who were apparently hand in glove with the criminals, were merely conducting fake raids on smugglers dens and registering cases for name sake. The government and ruling parties lacked sincerity and determination to punish trigger happy smugglers with an iron hand. Moreover, the smugglers going to the extent of killing duty-bound officials make it clear that the criminals have blessings of the political bosses.
The CPI leader said the bourgeois political parties, especially the ruling parties, should own moral responsibility for such fatal attacks on the government employees. (NSS)
