CPI State secretary Dr K Narayana on Saturday said his party’s decision to have an electoral tie-up with the Congress was not a big issue when compared to the TRS admitting Konda Surekha into that party.
Speaking at the “Meet-the-Press” program here, Dr Narayana said the Konda couple joining the TRS for political gain was the best example of “Aya Rams and Gaya Rams”. Asserting that separate Telangana State was possible only with firm determination of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the CPI leader said the three parties — Congress, TRS and CPI — should go for the ensuing elections in alliance which appears to be impossible under the present circumstances. Narayana said if he succeeded in forging an alliance with the Congress, he would seek 12 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat for his party.
Making it clear that the CPI was against Congress policies all over the country, Narayana said the CPI was in favour of forging an electoral alliance in the Telangana region. He also faulted provocative statements being made by political leaders after bifurcation of the State. Stating that his party would leave no stone unturned for development of Telangana region, Narayana said there is possibility of revival of agitations if the people’s problems remain unsolved.
Adverting to Tollywood actor and Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan, the CPI leader said he was not able to understand the “politics” of Pawan Kalyan. He also said he did not understand why the actor who has leftist views had called on the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. (NSS)
