CPI refuses to support TDP in by-elections

Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana on Wednesday stated that his party would extend support to those who resigned for the cause of Telangana state in the by-elections.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of executive committee meeting, Narayana made it clear that the party was not in a position to support the Telugu Desam Party at this juncture. He said the party has decided to support Nagam Janardhan Reddy, an independent candidate in Nagarkurnool Assembly by-elections and CPI (M) candidate in Kovvur segment.

Narayana stated that Telangana Rashtra Samithi was not an `untouchable’party and was working sincerely for the formation of Telangana statehood.

Earlier, CPI (M) state secretary B V Raghavulu denied extending support for TDP in the by-elections. (INN)
