CPI to raise MFI issue in Parliament

Hyderabad, October 13: The CPI has said that it will raise the alleged harassment of poor borrowers by microfinance companies in Parliament. CPI floor leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta said here on Tuesday that the party would also write to the Union Government to turn its attention to the problem.

“So far 12 persons have committed suicide in Andhra Pradesh unable to bear harassment by MFI agents. Worse still, the chief minister has no time for the problems of the poor since he is busy visiting Delhi to obtain permission for a cabinet reshuffle. Cabinet expansion is the prerogative of the chief minister. If he cannot do it, why should he continue as the chief minister,” the CPI leader asked.
