CPI to plunge into battle for separate state from Jan. 24

Hyderabad, January 12: The Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary, Dr K. Narayana, has said that his party would launch an agitation for separate Telangana State from January 24 all over the State.

Speaking to mediapersons at State party headquarters “Makhdoom Bhavan” here on Tuesday, Dr Narayana said that his party will be in the forefront in the separate Telangana agitation henceforth. He also said that they would organize protest demonstrations with like-minded organizations to fight for separate State.

The CPI leader said that as the party functionaries have resolved in favour of separate Telangana State, they would intensify the agitation for separate State. He also made it clear that his party would not work with either the Telangana Rashtra Samiti or Telangana Political Joint Action Committee for separate State. He also did not rule out the possibility of working with the Telangana Praja Front chairman, Mr Gaddar, and the Arunodaya leader, Ms Vimalakka towards the goal.

Dr Narayana also charged the Congress High Command with deliberately keeping silent on the Telangana issue in order to delay formation of Telangana State as part of its opportunistic politics.

He said the Left party leaders would intensify their agitation for Telangana state until the Centre introduces the Bill.

The veteran Communist leader said the party would picket District Collectorates on January 24 with its activists and block all National highways.

He demanded that the Centre make its stand clear on Telangana statehood immediately and added that the inordinate delay in announcement of Telangana would lead to law and order problem in the region.

Mr Narayana also demanded the immediate withdrawal of Central Paramilitary Forces from Telangana region as there was no crisis in the region.
