The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India warmly congratulated the working class for its mighty demonstrations at Delhi from November 9 to 11.
CPI General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy, said in a press note here today that the call for gherao of the Parliament was given by ten Central Trade Unions including AITUC, CITU, INTUC, HMS and other organizations, except the BJP’s BMS. More than two lakh workers from different sectors of the industries, unorganized workers, scheme workers participated in the “Parliament Gherao” programme. In spite of sudden cold and high pollution, the workers bravely participated in the programme with anger and determination.
The demands include defence of public sector, scraping of anti-labour amendments in Labour Law, curbing of price rise, employment, minimum wage, pensions, etc., Reddy said and added that the successful programme should open the eyes of the government, which is hell bent on implementing anti-people, anti-working class policies. The arbitrary authoritarian rule should go.
CPI extends full support to the just demands of the working class, and express solidarity with their struggle. United battles of workers, peasants, agricultural labour, youth and students are necessary to fight back the wrong policies of the Modi government, the CPI leader stated. (NSS
