CPI (M)’s protest against atrocities on Muslims turns into warfield

Hyderabad: CPI (M) staged a protest against the atrocities of police on the Muslims of Guntur which turned into a warfield. Earlier, important leaders of CPI (M) were confined to their houses by the police. The city was practically turned into a curfew like situation. The lathicharge of police and the arrest of important CPI (M) leaders recalled the atrocities meted out to the people of Kashmir.

It may be recalled that before Eid-ul-Fitr, a Muslim girl was raped in Old Guntur area. There was no organization to raise the voice against it. The CPI (M) took this issue seriously and declared protest. Former CPI (M) MP of Rajya Sabha, Mr. P. Madhu along with CPI leaders staged protest in the area. A yatra was planned but a day before the rally, all the important leaders of CPI (M) were confined to their houses. The CPI (M) leaders assembled at the masjid of Old Guntur area and staged protest.

Mr. Madhu told that police is continuing its atrocities for the past 50 days but no one protested against it. He further told that under a conspiracy, police registered fake cases and arrested the Muslims before the festival. He termed it as an organized conspiracy. Police also created hurdles for bail petitions of the arrested leaders.
